Having a portable DVD player while traveling with children is really a life saver. Watching movies on a portable DVD player keeps kids happy and they don't realize how long they've been traveling if they're busy. I never leave home without my portable DVD player when going on a road trip with my five kids. The older ones usually just listen to music, but the younger ones like to watch movies on the portable DVD player. The questions like "are we there yet" and "how much longer" get fewer and farther between when the kids are absorbed in movies they love. And the portable DVD player is so easy to use, the kids can operate it without help from me, so when the movie is over they can put the new one in and push play. I never have to turn around to help them with the portable DVD player. I make sure to bring along their favorite movies, and plenty of them, so they stay busy longer. A lot of times they fall asleep while watching movies on the portable DVD player, which is great too.
