The Portable DVD Player Recorded the Storm |

The weather is one thing we can count on to be impossible to count on. I learned this lesson while on vacation in Florida a few years ago. Hurricane Season was in full swing, and there had already been a couple of strong ones that had hit the east coast that year. We decided to go on our scheduled vacation anyway. What were the chances of another bad hurricane hitting where we would be? We did go, and it was absolutely beautiful. The sun was shining, rain was minimal, and the water was breathtaking. We even went deep sea fishing...without much success. However, we had a great time trying!
Then came the storm. The weather stations stated there might be a chance of it coming our way. Luckily, we had gone online and purchased a portable DVD player for the trip. That year, we also purchased a Black and Decker Weather Alert Radio to take with us. The last two days of our trip the storm started heading our way. We knew we would leave soon; but, we did not leave soon enough. The hotel had two great plasma TVs, and we remained glued to each one...kids in one room, Mom and Dad in the other. The weather radio was on...Winds began howling, rain started coming down, and we watched "things" start to blow off the hotel across from us. At last, we were able to leave, and we got home safely. The trip ended in a whirlwind of excitement, and it was a great learning experience. We were fortunate to get it all on the recorder!
